The Dallas Cowboys had an unforgettable Thanksgiving Day. Their NFL game was filled with exciting moments.
On Thursday, the New York Giants were outscored by the Dallas Cowboys in the traditional Thanksgiving day match.
The game ended 28-20 which enabled the Cowboys to maintain their second ranking in the NFC East. The first half was lagging followed by an action-packed second half.
The Thanksgiving Day NFL games are a tradition that has been followed since the league was established in 1920. 6 games were played in the very first season.
This season features the games of the New England Patriots hosted by the Minnesota Vikings (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC), the Detroit Lions hosted by Buffalo Bills (12:30 p.m. ET, CBS), and the New York Giants hosted by the Dallas Cowboys (4:30 p.m. ET, FOX).
In the year 2006, another prime-time game was added as the third one. This consists of other teams having their own Thanksgiving Day Game tradition.
The game was filled with uncertainties that ping-ponged between both the teams. This is the first time ever the NY Giants are losing a game twice consecutively.
The previous week the Cowboys had scored 40 points in the game against Minnesota. This game witnessed them scoring 3 consecutive drive touchdowns in the second half. The first half ended with the score 13-7, the Cowboys leading.
The Prescott – Schultz dual helped the team to cap off the score table. Their strength was retained in both pass and run.
A coup de grâce was performed by the Cowboys with Peyton Hendershot scoring a 2 yards sweep. The Cowboys were able to dominate the ground there by doing the same in the game.
A 92-yard rumble by Ezekiel Elliot and 16 carries resulted in one score, and Pollard’s 60 yards led the team to soar to 169 yards and 39 scores resulting in 2 scores.
On their official Twitter account named “Dallas Cowboys” a tweet appeared saying “On the 14 play, 7+ minute drive, @dak hangs in and @BinghamBaller 9 finishes it off the right way!” A video featuring the tweet was also shared. In the Twitter account, they kept tweeting about all the events of the game.
Post-game Presott said that their defense can win a lot of games, so they have got to lean on them. He said that their opponents were not bad but it was just his team that took over the game.
Saquon Barkley, the running back of the New York Giants said after the game that it sucks every time they lose and there is a nasty feeling and a pain in the stomach that they experience when they lose. He appreciated the Dallas Cowboys by saying that they were the better team today and you have to give hats off to them. And that he and his team would take this time to get ready for Washington.
Barkley had to struggle on the ground to run the ball. The ball was run by him 11 times but he could only gain 39 yards, an average of 3.5. He also scored the first touchdown for the Giants. On the following four receptions, he succeeded in adding 13 more yards.
When Barkley came to the game he possessed 9853 yards ranking himself as the second-leading rusher in the entire league. After this game, he only has a pending of 8 yards to reach 1,000. Achieving it again would make a hat trick for him in his career spanning 5 years.
The Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Game Tradition :
The National Football League (NFL) was established in 1920 as the professional American soccer league. In the mid-1960s when the NFL was growing to be the major league, the TV networks and sponsors collaborated to add another Thanksgiving Day tradition after the already existing Lions tradition.
The president of the Dallas Cowboys team, Tex Schramm, volunteered to begin the Thanksgiving Day game tradition, and Dallas has been hosting the game ever since.
An exception to this was in 1975 and 1977, since 1966.
That happened because the St. Louis Cardinals was hosting a Thanksgiving Day game.
