2. Blackened Chicken Sandwich With Cajun And Creole Flavors Is Added To The Popeyes Menu

Popeyes made headlines in 2019 for its cult-favorite fried chicken sandwich, which sold out, inspired copycat recipes, and sparked competition between rivals. Now, the culinary brains behind the renowned dish have devised a new menu item with even more Cajun tastes.

Tuesday marked the premiere of the fast food chain’s “next major menu innovation: a breading-free, flavor-packed Blackened Chicken Sandwich.”

The $4.99 sandwich is constructed with chicken breast that has been marinated for 12 hours, seasoned with a blend of Cajun and Creole spices, and served on a warm, toasted brioche bun with Popeyes’ house classic or spicy mayonnaise and crispy barrel-cured pickles.

Popeyes stated in a press release, “The Popeyes Culinary Team spent four years perfecting its version of the classic Blackening cooking technique, which originated in Louisiana and is used to better seal in seasoning and spices to flavor the meat, which then develops a crave-worthy, yet subtle browned or blackened crust.”

The company asserted that it is “certain that others will try to imitate it again” and that their new blackened chicken sandwich “cannot be exceeded by future copycats.”

3. Wendy’s Introduces New Peppermint Frosty Before The Holidays

During the Christmas season, peppermint-flavored coffees and candies appear to dominate, but there is a new way to enjoy the flavor this year.

On Tuesday, Wendy’s introduced a new flavor for their popular frosty: the Peppermint Frosty.

The new frosty flavor follows Wendy’s introduction of its summer seasonal Strawberry Frosty for the first time this year.

The Peppermint Frosty will be offered alongside chocolate and vanilla varieties.

John Li, vice president of culinary innovation at Wendy’s, stated in a press release, “The Peppermint Frosty is our latest flavor variation on the famous Wendy’s Frosty that fans have grown to adore over the past 50 years.”

Wendy’s reported $11.11 billion in systemwide sales in 2021, making it the fifth-largest chain after McDonald’s, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, and Taco Bell.

4. After 40,000 Minks Were Illegally Freed From An Ohio Farm, Panic Ensues

Approximately 10,000 of the small carnivorous creatures were unaccounted for Tuesday evening, according to the local sheriff, after vandalism unleashed thousands of mink from a remote farm in northwest Ohio.

According to Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach, so many minks were killed while crossing a neighboring roadway that a plow had to be sent in to help remove the carcasses.

After 40,000 Minks Were Illegally Freed From An Ohio Farm

According to Riggenbach, the property owner first claimed that between 25,000 and 40,000 mink were liberated from their cages at Lion Farms. However, he reported that farm personnel was able to corral the majority of them still on the ranch, which is less than 15 miles from the Indiana state line.

As his office investigates, he declined to comment on a possible motive for the nocturnal vandalism or whether a suspect has been discovered.

A farm manager told WANE-TV that someone spray-painted the initials “ALF” and “we’ll be back” on the property.

The Times Bulletin in Van Wert stated that a group known as the Animal Liberation Front had previously claimed credit for freeing a considerably smaller number of minks at the property years ago.

Tuesday, the advertised phone line for the farm was unanswered, and not receiving messages.

The sheriff’s office initially cautioned nearby homeowners to be wary of chicken flocks, small pets, and koi ponds that the mink might attack, but later stated that the mink were likely domesticated and lacked the skills to survive in the wild.

The sheriff asked anyone who encounters them to refrain from approaching them and instead contact the farm or trappers for recapturing. Residents who want to hunt or trap mink in their area must be aware of the applicable regulations and exclusions, according to him.

5. Confirmation That The Sanford High School Active Shooter Incident Was A Hoax

York County Emergency Management has confirmed that the incident at Sanford High School and Regional Technical Center was a hoax.

Tuesday around 8:20 a.m., the Sanford Regional Communications Center received a call, according to officials. The call came from an untraceable number and reported that a gunman wearing a black coat and black pants was on the first level of the high school. The caller informed authorities that they were confined in the staff lounge.

Sanford officers Lieutenant Matthew Gagne reported that two school resource officers were already present at the high school when the call came in.

The superintendent of Sanford schools stated that after the information was acquired, lockdown procedures were implemented.

According to officials, both Gardiner and Portland schools got calls with similar descriptions of a shooter.

Steve Benotti, the fire chief of Sanford, stated that after getting the complaint, they reacted with multiple units including those from the surrounding region.

When no patients were found, the fire chief stated that personnel demobilized, but added that there were sufficient resources at the scene, citing prior active shooter response training.

Wednesday classes will be canceled at Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center due to the hoax. The school will be open for pupils to retrieve their belongings.

6. Mike Tyson And Evander Holyfield Will Launch “Holy Ears” Candies Together

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are teaming up ahead of the upcoming holiday season to release a special line of cannabis-infused edibles that reference the historic 1997 heavyweight boxing match in which Iron Mike was disqualified for chewing off a portion of Holyfield’s ear. The THC-infused, ear-shaped “Holy Ears” snacks are distributed by Tyson 2.0 Global, where Holyfield will launch his own line in 2023.

Mike and I have a lengthy history of competition and mutual respect. And that night altered our lives forever. Back then, we were unaware that, despite being strong athletes, we were also in considerable agony. Now, nearly two decades later, we have the opportunity to offer the medicine we needed during our careers,” stated Holyfield in his own statement.

According to Huffington Post editor Philip Lewis, Tyson reiterated the view, stating, “Had I been under the influence of cannabis, I would not have bitten his ear.” Holy Ears gummies reportedly contain 25mg per piece and are available in three flavors: “Cherry Pie Punch,” “Sour Apple Punch,” and “Black Eye Berry.” Additionally, the snacks are natural, vegan, and gluten-free.

The Delta 8 Holy Ears snacks are now available on the Tyson 2.0 Global website for $30 USD a bag.
