Students at Valley University in Bushenyi District, Ankole Subregion, are mourning the loss of their colleague, Susan Kyatuhaire, who was brutally raped and murdered on Wednesday night. The incident occurred in cold blood.

The unclothed body of Kyatuhaire, who was in the third year of her Bachelor of Education program, was discovered lying at the door of her leased residence in Kitokye Cell, Central Division, in the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality. Kyatuhaire was a student in the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality. The head of the body had also been injured in some way.

Ms. Aijuka Kukundakwe, 23, is a student at the Kyambogo University study center in Bushenyi. She said that she was living with Kyatuhaire and she revealed that she had spent the day with the deceased person.

According to Ms. Kukundakwe, Kyatuhaire allegedly ditched her in the evening, claiming that she needed to see a friend in Bushenyi Town.

She claimed, “The whole day we had not gone outside our leased room till she departed at 8 pm to see a friend in Bushenyi Town but she had not revealed to me whom she was going to meet.” “The whole day we had not gone outside our rented room since it was raining.”

At 9:30 in the evening, Ms. Kukundakwe discovered the lifeless body of her close friend lying on the balcony. She expressed her shock at the discovery.

“When I opened the door, I saw keys and a shoe before seeing the body of my roommate lying naked on the veranda,” she said. “It had been raining, and I had moved to put a cloth under the door to prevent rainwater from entering the house. When I opened the door, however, I saw my roommate’s body lying naked on the veranda.”

“I have lost a friend, a roommate, and an industrious person who always had high aspirations for the future, and I don’t know who was not on good terms with Susan, but God knows,” she continued.

According to Mr. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the greater Bushenyi police, the individual who passed away was from the Ntungamo District.

Mr. Tumusiime stated that an investigation was being conducted into the circumstances surrounding the slaying of the deceased.

“We have a duty to ascertain whether the incident was committed there or in any other place because she could have been killed from somewhere and dumped in front of her room,” He stated.

The chairman of the cell, Mr. Milton Mwebembezi, voiced his concern over the growing sense of fear in the neighborhood as a result of the abundance of dark places.

“There are so many unfinished houses where undesirables may hide,” he added. “The government ought to install CCTV cameras since the neighborhood is dangerous. We have tried in vain to convene a security meeting. There are so many unfinished houses.”

A postmortem examination was performed on the body of the deceased patient at the Kampala International Teaching Hospital Ishaka.

This comes a month after the unidentified assailants who threw acid on a businesswoman of the same age and gender in the same location caused her death.

Julian Bride died at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, which is where she had been taken after the attack that took place on September 14 at her business premises on Bushenyi-Kasese road. The attack was carried out by an unidentified lady.

According to the police, there were five murder cases registered in the district during the month of October, which is an increase from the two cases that were registered in September.

As per the Annual Crime and Traffic Safety Report for 2020, the number of homicide cases decreased by 5.4% from the previous year’s total of 4,718 instances. Despite this, the number of people who passed away as a result of domestic abuse rose by 16 percent in 2020, going from 360 cases to 418.

In 2020, there were a total of 440 people killed as a result of severe domestic violence, 213 of whom were male adults, 169 of whom were female adults, 33 of who were juvenile males, and 24 of whom were juvenile females. This number represents an increase from 2019 when there were 373 people killed.
