Sweet Tooth hit Netflix on June 4, 2021. It was based on a comic book by Jeff Lemire. It was made by Warner Bros. TV, DC Entertainment, and Team Downey.
The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where a virus kills most of the world’s people. It’s also where hybrid babies are born. Our story is about Gus, a young boy who is half-human and half-deer. He lives with his father in a remote area.
The cast all cheered on set when they told us that filming for season 2 of the show was done. The filming was done a little bit earlier than planned. The original end date for filming was June 10, 2022.
When Did Sweet Tooth Get Picked Up For A Second Season? How Did Sweet Tooth Do When It Came Out On Netflix?
For a Netflix show to be renewed, it needs to do well in the ratings. While we don’t know the exact numbers it needs to hit, Sweet Tooth did well enough that it was renewed for a second season.
From what we saw and what FlixPatrol told us, it seemed like the show was popular in almost every Netflix region. This year, we’ve seen that most shows that stay in the top 10 in at least one area for about 30 days get a new season.
The show was in the top 10 in the United States for about 30 days. That number was 32 days in the UK. In fact, almost all of the Netflix regions that FlixPatrol watches show that the show was popular all over the world.
According to new “hours viewed” top 10 data, the series was watched for more than 34 million hours between June 27 and July 11. We don’t have any data before June 27th, which is too bad.
In Netflix’s Q2 2021 earnings report, they also said how many people had watched a few minutes of the show (watched at least two minutes). In the first 28 days that the show was available to stream around the world, 60,000,000 households watched it.
The show also did well with critics. On Metacritic, users gave it a 7.4 score, and critics gave it a 78. IMDb gives the show a rating of 7.9 out of 10.
Nielsen has also put the show in its top 10s four times, with a total of 3,213 million minutes watched so far (their data only applies to the US).
A little bit of the news about the second season got out before Netflix’s social media pages officially announced it. A lot of the cast and other parties got chocolates with a big number 2 on the front before Netflix’s social media pages did.
Along with the announcement, the first big piece of news was that season 2 will have eight episodes that are each an hour long.
What To Expect From The Second Season Of Sweet Tooth?
Since the show is pretty true to the comics, even though it’s a lot lighter than the comics, you’ll know there’s a lot more story to tell.
Now that we know where Gus’s mother lives (Alaska), we can follow their trip north. People think that she is up there looking for a cure.
By the end of the first season, The Last Men had caught Gus. Now, there is a strategy to rescue him. The good news is that Big Man seems to have survived his wounds, even though he was hurt.
We also want to learn more about where the virus that caused the mutations came from. We might not find out that information in the show, but it was revealed in issue 26 of the comics. DigitalSpy has a good summary of how the virus got started, but you should only read it if you’d like to know before it’s shown on the show.
Where Is The Second Season Of Sweet Tooth Being Made? When Is The Last Shot?
We know for sure that filming for season 2 will start in January 2022 and go all the way through the summer because of the casting calls and production sheets. Variety Insight says that the original plan was for the show to stop filming on May 31, 2022.
Season 1 took 135 days and 72 sets to make, for those who don’t know. The whole show is shot in New Zealand, and season 2 will be the same.
The second season was mostly shot in New Zealand, in the cities of Auckland and Warkworth.
Christian Convery posted on Instagram on January 18 that they were back on set. “So good to be back with my awesome friend and stunt double @liamjreynoldss,” the photo’s caption read. Let’s get started!”
When Will The Second Season of Sweet Tooth Be On Netflix?
At first, we thought season 2 might make it to Netflix in 2022, but it now looks like that won’t happen. Instead, season 2 of Sweet Tooth will come out on Netflix in the first or second quarter of 2023.
