The After Films series is based on best-selling author Anna Todd’s novel. The plot is based on innocent Tessa Young and rebellious Hardin Scott. They fell in love, though their relationship seems passionate but conflicting.
The hit ‘After’ series shows what happens to their love story moving forward, whether they become successful in keeping their love alive or fall apart.
If you are someone who has only heard of the ‘After’ series but has not watched any, then this article is for you. We will tell you the order in which you should watch each of the movies in order to get the complete plot and story of this romantic tale.
1. After (2019)
This is the introductory post. Here, the viewers are introduced to Tessa Young, who is a high school graduate and is about to join Washington Central University. On arrival, Tessa meets her roommate Steph Jones and his girlfriend Tristan. Tessa is studious but Steph and his girlfriend are party animals.
Despite the differences, Tessa settles well with her roommates. Steph invites Tess to a party where she happens to meet Hardin Scott. At the party, they were playing Truth or Dare, where Tessa and Hardin were asked to lip lock, but Tessa refused and escaped the party.
After that incident, Hardin started chasing Tessa. Later, they started dating but broke up soon because Hardin was adamant. Tessa went home, and on returning to the university, she started applying for internships. She started spending time on studies, and one day Hardin expressed his feelings for her.
2. After We Collided (2020)
This part of the series starts with Hardin dreaming of Tessa. Tessa joins Vance Publishing as an intern. There she had an awkward encounter with her co-worker Trevor Matthews. At her workplace, Tessa was warmly welcomed by the staff and founder of Vance.
One night, Tessa goes to a club with her colleagues, where she has many drinks and accidentally kisses as well. She dialed Hardin to tell him how drunk she was. Trevor helped her, and they went to their hotel.
Tessa spills wine on Trevor and asks him to undress to wash his clothes. Suddenly, Hardin sneaked in, where he saw a half-naked Trevor and pushed him out of the room. Tessa and Hardin slept together.
Their reunion did not last long, as Tessa failed to manage her hectic work schedule and then Hardin. Things get worse when Hardin’s family comes into play and his mother befriends Tessa. In the end, Tessa unexpectedly goes on a journey to search for her long-lost father.
3. After We Fell (2021)
This series begins with Tessa and Hardin living together happily. Tessa receives a work offer from Vance Publishing at their Seattle office, about which Hardin isn’t very happy or excited, as he is afraid that long distance won’t work. Hardin had other plans for bringing Tessa to London after graduation.
Tessa then moves to Seattle, and Hardin becomes jealous, knowing that she and Trevor would be living in the same city. Tessa had struggles of her own as she was on a mission to find her missing father, whom she hadn’t seen for nine years.
Hardin does not want Tessa to meet her father, as he is afraid that he might hurt her, but surprisingly, he finds himself bonding well with him because of his alcoholism.
Hardin takes Tessa to London for his mother’s wedding; everything was fine until Hardin finds his mother having sex with Vance just one night before her wedding. Things become worse when Vance spills a long-lost secret to Hardin.
4. After Ever Happy (2022)
In this part, Hardin gets to know about his family’s dark secrets. Tessa tries to console him and bring him back from the state of despair, but she loses all hope of finding that only Hardin can do so.
To make it more difficult for Hardin, Tessa asks them to take a break from each other. They then parted ways, but again, they crossed paths. This time, let’s see what happens. They can choose to make their future together; do not repeat the same old mistakes or fall apart.
5. After Everything (2023)
The final part of this franchise shows a broken Hardin who is finding it difficult to cope with the fact that he is not with Tessa anymore. He is shown struggling with work as well.
He then decided to travel to Lisbon to make things better with Natalie, but there he wasn’t welcomed. He also got a chance to cross paths with Tessa, but we hardly have any idea what would happen this time between them—whether they would fall apart or reunite.
