Cori Dionne, who is popularly known as Coco Gauff, is an American tennis player. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has ranked Gauff as No. 3 in world singles and No. 1 in world doubles.
Coco Gauff was born on March 13, 2004, in Delray Beach, Florida, United States. She made her WTA debut in 2019 at the Miami Open. There, she became the youngest player in history to qualify for the main draw. She won her first women’s singles at the Linz Open in 2019.
Coco Gauff parents are Candi and Corey Gauff; she also has two brothers. In her early years, Gauff lived in Atlanta, where she began playing tennis at the age of six. The Gauff family moved to Delray Beach, where she worked at the New Generation Tennis Academy with Gerard Loglo. She started doing so at the age of eight.
At the initial stage of her career, Coco’s father became his first coach. Then she began training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France, where she was trained by Patrick Mouratoglou. She became a former world No. 1 junior.
She played the ITF Junior Circuit at the age of 13, and then she made her junior Grand Slam at the 2017 US Open. She played at the Australian Open in 2018. Coco has also played in the Junior Fed Cup and the Orange Bowl.
During 2018 and 2019, Coco played with the WTA and won titles over there. In 2020, she reached the Australian Open fourth round. She reached the quarterfinals and doubles finals of the Abu Dhabi Open and Australian Open in 2021.
In 2022, Gauff reached doubles No. 1 at the French Open. At the Auckland Open in 2023, she reached the finals. She won Cincinnati titles and Miami doubles; she also won a title at the US Opens.
At her games, Coco wears New Balance clothing and tennis shoes. In 2018, a sponsorship contract with New Balance was signed by her. Then in 2019, she announced her sponsorship contract with Barilla, and she is also the brand ambassador for the advisory firm Baker Tilly US, LLP.
