Ross Clayton is a country crooner who auditioned with a dozen contestants for the singing reality show, The Voice Season 23.
Originally hailing from Oklahoma City, Ross Clayton has notched the attention of the entire nation by delivering a bind-blogging performance before the jury, comprising of Naill Horan, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and Chance the Rapper.

The country singer, Ross Clayton, was born and raised in Oklahoma City and was incredibly talented since childhood. According to the information gained from the radio station K-LAW101, the Oklahoma native went to Monmouth College, where he formed a band called Buckshot Trio with his friends.
Currently, he is a married man with three children, and it looks like his destiny saved his success for 2023 as Clayton remained unknown until recently he showed up in The Voice 2023. He had previously released his debut single, “Turn Up Again,” in 2017.

Ross Clayton’s extraordinary version of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” created a long-standing impression on the judges as one of them, Niall Horan, even competed with others for the singer.
He even turned back the chairs of the remaining three judges, stating he needs “ a bit of privacy” to pitch him properly. Horan was nearly astounded by the performance that he even got baffled in the middle and asked, “How are you doing that?”
“You have an incredible voice,” he said with raised eyebrows. Jhe added that Clayton has a “country tone” from which he could sense “so much soul.”
Ross Clayton Garnered Niall Horan’s Attention Quite Well
Ross Clayton must be glad that on his foremost audition, a singer like Niall Horan literally pleaded before him to join his team. He might not require a sixth sense to realize that the judges have fallen head over heels for his voice.
However, it seems like The Voice fans will get to hear a string of vocal treats from Clayton, who is now officially a part of the singing competition.
Meanwhile, Niall Horan went to some drastic measures to persuade the sought-after star, Clayton, to secure him as his first team member. He finally dropped to one knee and the singer finally agreed to his proposal.
The Audition Was Ross Clayton’s Comeback After Years
Right before getting in for the audition, Ross Clayton wrote on his Instagram handle that “its a little more” than what he could possibly chew as the singer seemed quite nervous since the audition would mark his “comeback.”
Apparently, Clayton took a hiatus from the music industry five years ago. Moreover, his last performance-related post is dated back to August 2019, which proves that the young saga was in a short break. So ‘The Voice’ is his first stage after he opened for the Jason Young Band at a party in 2019.

Ross Clayton’s Music Career
Although Clayton was not born into a family of musicians, he found his own way ever since he attend high school as the young singer managed to come up with a band with two of his friends, as the name suggests ‘trio,’ hinting they were a group of three.
However, he had already stacked several experiences in the field by releasing songs under his own name as well as under the label, Ross Clayton Band.
But according to Clayton, education was his first priority as he only began to focus on his music career after college. Shortly after his studies, Clayton released a single “Hellraiser and Heartbreaker,” but neither was his big break.
After a couple of years, he found himself indulging in writing and recording music, but by that time, he was already in Nashville.
He then released his masterpiece ‘Turn Up Again” and went on to enjoy a bit of success later that year as his song won the best song award and his Ross Clayton Band took home a Josie Award for best band. Nevertheless, Ross Clayton’s songs cannot be found on everyday streaming sites, but they are still available on YouTube.
Until now, one of the best songs he made is named “Highway Hallelujah,”- the band’s 2015 EP, and it has managed to garner enough views and comments on the video-sharing platform.
