Fashionistas were treated to yet another explosion of clothing and style on Friday at the sixth edition of the Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards, held at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The event, a fashion festival in Uganda and across Africa, drew some of the continent’s finest fashion designers and industry trend-setters, who walked the red carpet to the Victoria Ballroom, which hosted the stunning event.
The Ciroc-sponsored event, hosted by Kenya’s Anita Nderu and Tracy Wanjiru, honoured people making their mark in the fashion world, with the night’s headline winner being Fatuma Asha, who won the award for Fashion designer of the year (Uganda), and Saida Beauty, who was named Makeup artist of the year.
“Over the years, the fashion industry in Uganda has not received the recognition it deserves.” “I am delighted that the ASFAs have altered this and raised awareness about what fashion has to offer as well as the good impact it can have on the country’s economy,” stated Brian Ahumuza, owner of Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards.
The fashion extravaganza also featured runway shows from some of Africa’s and Uganda’s best designers, including Mai Atafo of Nigeria, David Tlale and Laduma Ngoxokolo of South Africa, and Anita Beryl of Beryl Couture, Alex Alecool of Alecool Clothing, and Kkoolo of Uganda, among others.
The fashion event also includes performances by Ugandan musicians such as Spice Diana, Lydia Jasmine, and the climax of it all, Lillian’s performance at the Late Mose radio station.
