Who Is NHL debutant Kiefer Sherwood?

Kiefer Sherwood grew up in the Ohio city of Columbus. Before this trip, he had never been to Europe. He never been the first star of an NHL game.

In Prague, he was the first star of the Nashville Predators' 4-1 win over the San Jose Sharks in the 2022 NHL Global Series.

As an unrestricted free agent, he agreed to terms with Nashville that will see him earn $750,000 over the course of one year.

On July 14, he played right wing with Nino Niederreiter and Ryan Johansen. He started well with a goal and an assist.

John Hynes thought Sherwood could fit in with Niederreiter, who signed a 2-year, $8 million contract on July 21, and Johansen, a Predators mainstay since 2015-16.

He beat out Philip Tomasino, who was picked 24th in the 2019 NHL Draft and had 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in 76 games for the Predators last year.

"His forecheck is fast. Time and space vanish for him. His stick is excellent. Offensively, he's fast. He's more than a fast player, as you saw tonight." said Hynes.

Sherwood scored the first goal of the 2022–23 NHL season and his first goal for Nashville on his first shift Friday.

He sent the puck to the point, went to the front of the net, and won a 50/50 battle. At 1:01 of the first period, he batted in a rebound to give his team a 1-0 lead.
