Travis Kelce Breaks Gronk Receiving Yards Record

Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is having the best season of his professional career so far.

With 4:08 left in the fourth quarter, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caught a ball for 36 yards. This was the most yards a tight end has ever caught in a single season.

This record had previously been held by George Kittle, who is currently a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers tight end set the record with 1,377 yards in 2018, just hours after Kelce broke Rob Gronkowski's 1,327-yard mark from 2011.

On Sunday, the Chiefs tight end made more history. So far this season, Kelce has caught passes for 1,416 yards.

In the year 2020, Kelce made his 100th reception of a pass. It's the second straight year that he's finished with 100 catches.

Last year, Kelce caught 103 passes. He is the first player in the franchise and the first NFL tight end to have more than one season with 100 catches.

Kelce's record-breaking reception was also his 104th of the season, which broke the franchise record for receptions.

"I like being a part of, I'm most proud of the fact that this is the first time in Chiefs history that they are 14-1. Next week, we'll try to make it 15-1." Kelce said.
