Spotify Axing 11 OG Podcasts From Gimlet And Paracast?

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services company started on April 23, 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.

Spotify is deleting 11 podcasts from Gimlet and Parcast. How to Save a Planet, Crime Show, and Medical Murders will end, according to Spotify.

The 11 shows are from Parcast and Gimlet, two podcast studios bought by Spotify in early 2019 as part of its upswing into the space.

Other shows that will be ending in the next month or so include Gimlet's Every Little Thing and Parcast's Female Criminals, Crimes of Passion, Dictator, Mythology, Haunted Places, and Urban Legends.

Horoscope Today on Parcast will conclude in the second quarter of 2023. According to Munford, less than 5% of Spotify's original podcast crew will be let go or reallocated to new programmes.

Significant staffing changes at Spotify led to the news. Gimlet managing director Lydia Polgreen left this summer, and Parcast founder Max Cutler was elevated in the spring.

Spotify is reducing its podcast slate in order to focus on its original and exclusive episodes, which have routinely ranked in the Top 20 on its charts.

Meanwhile, Spotify recently declined to renew its exclusive agreement with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, which was signed in 2019.

True-crime-focused Parcast has played great for Spotify. Six of its shows, including Serial Killers, Cold Cases, and Conspiracy Theories, are in the top 100 on Spotify.
