New Jersey $1400 Checks Oct 31st Deadline: Who Qualifies?

As part of its Senior Freeze property tax reimbursement program, the state of New Jersey is providing assistance.

It not only benefits older Americans but also disabled residents who are facing rising property taxes or mobile home park site fees on their property.

For one thing, you must have been 65 or older on December 31, 2020, or be receiving Social Security disability payments on or before that date.

Who is Eligible

The total income of the household cannot have been more than $92,969 in 2020 or $94,178 the previous year.

Additionally, 2020 property taxes must be settled by June 1, 2021, and 2021 taxes must be settled by June 1, 2022.

To qualify as a homeowner, you must have occupied the property since the 31st of December in 2017.

Mobile Homes: Those who leased or owned a mobile home must have done so on December 31, 2017, and must have resided in it at least until December 31, 2021.

If you moved inside the state and received reimbursement for your former property during the final full year you resided there, you may be eligible.

According to New Jersey officials, those who qualify must submit an application by the due date of Tuesday, October 31.

The New Jersey Department of Treasury estimates that each reimbursement check is worth "approximately" $1,400.
