In Just Days, Thousands Of Americans will be able to apply for a new guaranteed basic Income pilot program, which will provide them with thousands

In Cook County, Illinois, a $42 million Promise Program will provide $500 per month for two years to 3,250 households.

The city of Chicago is included, and those selected will have no spending limits on the money; they can use it for whatever they choose as long as it is legal.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle noted that using cash benefits properly leads to financial stability and improved physical, emotional, and social outcomes.

To be eligible, Cook County residents must be at least 18 years old and earn at least 250 percent of the federal poverty level.

Who's Eligible For This Program

However, those who are currently registered in Chicago's own income pilot programme are not eligible for this programme.

On Thursday, October 6, a link to the application will be added on the webpage for the programme that has been modified.

How To Apply

While the application must be completed online, the county provides a number of locations for in-person assistance.

In addition, applicants are exempt from having to disclose whether or not they are in the country legally.
