Just when we thought the McDonald's Halloween pails were gone for good, having not been seen since 2016, word on the street is that they may make a comeback this year in October 2022!
Just looking at these collectible pails jogged my memory of a childhood favourite that I had completely forgotten about.
After doing some research, it appears that there have been A LOT of people campaigning for McDonald's to bring them back for several years now!
McDonald's has included trick-or-treat bags for children to decorate with every Happy Meal sold since 1965.
This later evolved into the much-loved pumpkin pails that we all remember and love from the 1980s, which were introduced nationally in 1986.
If you're really sharp, you might recall they had three distinct spooky styles called McBoo, McPunk'n, and McGoblin.
McDonald's did not sell Halloween buckets every year, but they did do so several times over the next 20 years, including the ghost and witch designs shown below.
McDonald's has not confirmed the availability of the 2022 Halloween Happy Meal Buckets, but a leaked business calendar indicates they will be available from Oct 18th to 24th, or while supplies last
Until then, we'll cross our fingers that the rumours are true and that we can introduce a new generation to some of our own childhood nostalgia!
