Massacusetts $1000 to $100 Checks Up For Grabs: Who Qualifies?

This will be available in Massachusetts because of Chapter 62F, a law that limits the state's tax revenue that was passed in 1986.

For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, Massachusetts had a net tax revenue of nearly $42billion 

Anyone who paid personal income taxes in Massachusetts in 2021 is eligible for a refund. The deadline to file was originally set for October 17, 2022.

A spokesperson from the state's Executive Office of Administration and Finance told Boston 25 that it has been extended until September 15, 2023.

How much you get back will depend on how much you owe in income taxes for the year 2021. This is how much was owed to Massachusetts in 2021.

Taxpayers will usually get a refund that is equal to about 14% of their personal income tax bill for 2021. So, someone who paid $10,000 in taxes last year can expect a $1,400 refund.

On Tuesday, paper checks and direct deposits will start going out to about 3 million taxpayers. They'll be sent out one at a time until December 15.

Residents must be 18 or older and make at least 50% of the area's median income or less to be eligible.

Claimants who got the Empire State Child Credit and/or the Earned Income Credit in 2021 are eligible. Governor Kathy Hochul said that payments will be made to 1.75 million people.
