Instagram Crash & Account Suspension: What’s The Cause?

Monday, Instagram users' apps crashed or their accounts were closed, according to news reports and posts on other social media sites.

By 10:15 a.m. on monday, the website Down Detector had received more than 7,600 reports of service outages.

This comes at the same time as reports from multiple accounts claiming that they have been suspended.

Esquire says that users with suspended accounts were told that they have 30 days to disagree with this decision before their accounts are permanently deleted.

On Twitter, where a lot of people were tweeting about what was going on with their Instagram accounts,  @InstagramComms said they were aware of the problems and "looking into it."

The most recent outage to affect Instagram is one of several that have impacted Meta in a span of less than a week.

On Oct. 25, WhatsApp, a secure messaging service with about 2 billion users, was down for a few hours.

The Verge says that three days later, people outside the United States could no longer use Instagram or Facebook.

There has been no remark from Meta regarding the outage or whether or not a cause has been identified.
