Illinois Monthly $500 Checks For 2 Years: Who’s Eligible?

Thousands of families have until Friday to apply for a new guaranteed income pilot programme designed to help low-income families.

The program in Illinois is being carried out in Cook County, where 3,250 deserving families will each receive $500 per month for a period of two years.

The Cook County Promise Program is one of many guaranteed income programs that have sprouted up since the pandemic shook the economy in 2020.

Households in Cook County with an annual income equal to or less than 250 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible for assistance.

Who's Eligible?

According to the report, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Only one person per household may apply for and receive funds.

County residents who are already enrolled in another guaranteed program, Chicago's Resilient Communities Pilot, are ineligible for Cook County's program.

Qualified applicants will be chosen at random in a lottery. If you are selected, you should be notified by the middle of November.

Applications have been open since October 6, and the county has made no indication that they will be extended past this Friday, October 21.

How And When To Apply

The application must be submitted online, but the county provides a list of locations where assistance can be obtained in-person.

States such as California have initiated the distribution of inflation relief checks with a maximum value of $1,050.
