Football fans have had a long offseason. Even longer since Cris Collinsworth gracefully slid into the picture to join NBC broadcasting partner Al Michaels before a NFL game.
The "Collinsworth slide," as it was affectionately known by many, had to take a pause for the 2020 season due to the social distancing restrictions put in place last season.

However, I have some encouraging news for you NFL lovers! The slide has been brought back, and we can only hope it stays this time!

We finally received our first "Collinsworth slide" in almost a year before Thursday Night Football between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. And how wonderful it is to be back!
After Mike Tirico's monologue, which focused on the destruction caused by Hurricane Ian in Florida, he introduced Collinsworth, who arrived with the familiar slide.

NFL fans reacted on Twitter with delight and pleasure after witnessing the first "Collinsworth slide" in a very, very long time.

The fact that it has returned adds to the mystery. Did he retire it but chose to bring it back for the Bucs game as a compliment to Tom Brady?

Perhaps it was just a case of old habits die hard. Perhaps it's back indefinitely. Collinsworth may be the only one who knows for certain.

For the Week 5 Sunday Night Game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens, there should be more clarity.
