$6728 Child Tax Credit Checks Up For Claims: Deadline In 2 Days

Individuals and families who missed out on $1,400 stimulus checks or the $3,600 enhanced child tax credit (CTC) only have a few days to claim

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sent out more than 9 million letters earlier this month to remind people that the deadline to use their free tool to file taxes and get the money is November 17

People who still need to file tax returns for 2021 can use the IRS Free File tool. It's only for people who make less than $73,000 a year

People who usually don't file taxes and have low incomes may have missed out on one or more stimulus checks in 2021

The deadline to get the CTC is November 15, a few days earlier than usual. Users can get to the free portal by going to GetCTC.org

In 2021, the total CTC was $3,600 for kids under the age of six and $3,000 for kids between the ages of six

Individuals with incomes of less than $12,500 and married couples filing jointly with incomes of less than $25,000 can get the credit by filing a simple tax return

Employees with one child can get up to $3,618, those with two children can get up to $5,980, and those with three or more children can get up to $6,728

Taxpayers have up to three years to file their taxes and claim tax credits, but the November deadlines are only for filing tools
