$1800 LIHEAP Checks: Eligibility & How To Apply?
Homeowners in the District of Washington who are overdue on their mortgage payments or utility bills will be impacted by this.
Residents who qualify for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) can get a one-time payment of between $250 and $1,800.
The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) says your income from Oct. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2022, cannot have exceeded the marked amounts.
Online or mailed applications are available. You must provide your SSN, heating source, and household information.
How to apply
If you send in your application by mail, send it to the following address: Utility Affordability Administration, 5th Floor, 1200 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002
It's not clear if there is a certain date by which you have to apply. The DOEE didn't answer that when asked for a comment.
The LIHEAP is a federal programme, so if you are having trouble in other ways, you might be able to get help with your energy bills.
Between the years 2021 and 2022, the maximum monthly income that can be earned by a family of four in the state of New York is $5,249.
Also, the energy bills of up to 50 million Americans will go down by up to 50 percent thanks to new plans from the Biden administration.
