Call the call centre at 1-833-711-0374 if you need live help filling out and sending in your Request for Services form.

LIHEAP applications can be sent in from September 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023, or until the money runs out, whichever comes first.

Your household's gross income (before taxes) for the 30 days before you apply for support must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level*.

If you rent and your heat and/or electricity are included in the rent, you may be able to get help if your rent is more than 30% of your income.

The checks will have income limits of $200,000 per individual taxpayer or $400,000 per joint filer. To qualify, you must have lived in Illinois in 2021 and met income criteria.

Please have the following documentation for each household member so your local agency can check eligibility:

Proof of income from the last 30 days, such as a paystub, check, or copy of a check reflecting a fixed income amount (such as SSA, VA, or DHS benefits).

Last month's heating and electric bills  Social Security card or ITIN for residents. Residents can apply even without an ITIN or SSN; their local agency will tell them how.

If you rent, a copy of your lease showing whether utilities are included, how much you pay, and how to reach the landlord.

If you obtain support from the Illinois Department of Human Services, you must present documentation of TANF, Medical Eligibility, or SNAP.
