$1400 To $3600 Child Tax Credit Checks: Deadline To Claim On Nov 17

Individuals and families who did not receive the $1,400 stimulus payment or the $3,600 increased child tax credit (CTC) have only a few days to file a claim.

The IRS sent over 9 million letters this month informing Americans of the November 17 deadline to utilize their free tool to file taxes and get the cash.

For those who still have unfiled 2021 tax returns to submit, use the IRS Free File tool. Only those with annual salaries of $73,000 or less are eligible.

Low-income people who don't often pay taxes might have lost out on one or more stimulus checks in 2021.

The CTC application deadline is November 15, which is a few days sooner. To utilize the free portal, users can go to GetCTC.org.

Children below the age of six received a CTC of $3,600, and children from six to seventeen received a CTC of $3,000 in 2021.

Individual filers with incomes under $12,500 and married couples filing jointly with incomes under $25,000 can claim the benefit with a simplified tax return.

Employees with one kid are eligible for up to $3,618, those with two children are eligible for $5,980, and those with three children or more are eligible for $6,728.

The federal CTC will return to the maximum of $2,000 this year. Instead of advanced monthly payments, the money will be a tax credit for the 2022 tax year.

This will either enhance the recipient's tax refund or lower the size of their tax bill. Children must be under the age of 16 to qualify for assistance.
