1.8 Million Americans Will Receive $540 In Automatic Payments
Residents of one lucky U.S. state will receive these bonus payments, and one could be in your mailbox right now.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance (DFT) is providing $475 million to New Yorkers to help combat inflation.
According to sources, 1.8 million people who are found to be eligible will receive their checks in the mail.
We're delivering these relief checks to hard-working New Yorkers who have been feeling the pinch of inflation, said acting DTF Commissioner Amanda Hiller.
Those who received the Earned Income Credit or the Empire State Child Credit on their 2021 tax return will receive a check with no questions asked.
Eligible New Yorkers must have filed their state income tax return by April 18, 2022, or have obtained a valid filing extension by that date. IT - 201 is the required form.
According to the DTF, the majority of checks should be delivered to those eligible by the day of Halloween.
If your tax return is still being processed, your check may arrive after October 31. When the return is processed, the funds are automatically mailed to you.
To avoid late payment, any eligible individuals who have recently moved should notify DTF of their new address.
It's as simple as signing up for an account on their website and following the prompts for the necessary address information.
