Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has confirmed that La Liga is free to resume from June 8.

In a speech on Saturday, he said, “The time has come to resume many daily activities.” “La Liga will return from June 8. Spanish football has a huge following. Sources said that the target date for the restart of the 2019-20 season is June 12, with a specific date to be announced.

The derby match between Sevilla and Real Betis is expected to be the first game to restart the campaign. The 2019-20 La Liga season was declared a state of emergency on March 12.

Players were forced to practice at home until the gradual easing of the lockdown restrictions earlier this month. Initially, the Spanish 42 First and Second Division clubs were allowed individual exercises on the training ground before the group began training sessions, with up to 10 players in the week of May 18.

The next phase will be a full training session in which players can reflect on competitive situations and work on tactics for the first time.

La Liga has already sent an order to clubs detailing the safety measures for the tournament, which will take place without fans at the end of the season.

The successful opening of the German Bundesliga helped pave the way for other European football leagues. Whenever leagues in England and Italy return, expect a similar design to Spain – five substitutes per game, closed-door matches, masks and social distances when possible.

All of these will be the norm for the final stages of the Time19 -’20 campaign.

The league will resume with some interesting plays around the positions in the schedule. Barcelona (58 points) lead Real Madrid (56 points) by 2 points in 11 games. While no team will play each other again this year, there will be an impressive title match in Spain.

The race for the top four will have its fair share of drama. Sevilla is in third place with 47 points, Real Sociedad and Getafe are in 4th place with 46 points, Atletico Madrid in 6th place with 45 points and Valencia in 7th place with 42 points.

With all those teams focused on Champions League and Europa League, expect a lot of turnovers in the 3-7 rankings.

Football in Europe is slowly returning, which is indicative of the presence of better times.
