Omah Lay’s first solo release in 2021 is ‘Understand,’ a Caribbean-inspired track produced by Tempoe, who also worked on last year’s ‘Godly’ single.
In the track, the singer laments unrequited love and reflects deeply on romance.
Omah Lay said, “It was a challenging song to record, and I hope the fans listen, understand, and connect to it, but most importantly, I hope she listens.”.

Recently, Omah Lay was featured on the Masterkraft remix of Justin Bieber’s chart-topping “Peaches,” along with fellow Nigerian artist, Alpha P .
Bieber personally contacted Omah Lay to invite him to appear on the remix.
Known for his percussion-heavy highlife style, Omah Lay, 24, moonlights as a producer and draws inspiration from his deep history with West Africa’s percussion-heavy music.
He is behind the EPs Get Layd and What Have We Done for 2020.
Earlier this year, he and the Gambian-British rapper Pa Salieu were invited to take part in the Montreux Jazz Festival Spotlight initiative.
A few days later, at the Headies 14, he won the Next Rated Award over fellow acts Tems, Oxlade, and Bella Shmurda.
Omah Lay was named one of Africa’s most exciting new voices by Apple Music and Audiomack last year.
