Last week, a section of the media announced that the controversial pastor had died following liver problems, but his family later denied that the reports were false, insisting he was still alive.

His son Andrew Jjengo said the pastor was ill at the time.

The development comes five months after he was released on bail following a pastoral arrest for misrepresenting and spreading malicious propaganda about the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

He was released on UGX2 million cash bail by Rubaga Grade One Magistrate, Timothy Lumunye, while each of his two bails is set at UGX5 million.

During the trial, Lumunye said the pastor showed that he was a diabetic and was being treated.

“It is fair that he (Yiga) was released on bail to seek medical treatment,” the magistrate said at the time.
