Diamond’s business profile
When Diamond Platnumz was just a teenager, he had a simple mission: to be able to buy food for his mother. He didn’t realize his sound and vision would go on to transform East African popular music and elevate the heights of its regional superstars.
A native of Tandale, Dar es Salaam, Diamond Platnumz moved from selling his mother’s ring to booking studio time to owning his own record label, Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), which includes artists like Mbosso, Lava Lava, Rayvanny, Queen Darleen, and Zuchu.
He served as the first African musician to own a radio station, Wasafi FM; a television station, Wasafi TV; and a production company, Zoom Extra; an online betting company, Wasafi Bet; and a perfume brand, Chibu.
