On Thursday, Duchess of Cambridge made a bold fashion choice, taking her mother’s 64th birthday party in a red-hot number.
The off-shoulder red lipstick dress of Alexander McQueen may have astonished Royal fans who haven’t seen Kate in such a vibrant color, but this is not the first time.
The 37-year-old went back in 2017 to recycle her favorite wardrobe items for the birthday festivities of Queen Elizabeth II, which she attended with the husband Prince William.
Kate paired her max dress with a pair of nude sandals on the Queen’s celebration, but this time she chose red shoes.
She went to her sister Pippa Middleton and her brother in law James Matthiew’s home where her birthday ceremony took place, wearing a black coat over her ensemble and carrying a shopping bag.
One of Kate’s label designers has been Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton, creative director of the luxury fashion house, designed her wedding gown.
She wore McQueen ‘s Wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 for Princess Eugenie. Her flattened, berry-colored dress, together with Philip Treacy ‘s matching fascinator was both gorgeous and eye-catching.
Later in that month she walked into a blue siren silhouette of McQueen, evoking the state banquet of Disney’s Cinderella .
It was a pleasure to see Kate at her mother’s party last week with a more modern, boholic look, peasant sleeves and a cinched tail, a definite distance from the classic and elegant lines that make her look a hallmark.
Just like she was carrying the $72/UGX 264,308 maternity dress for a royal family portrait which sold out in two hours, the red dress caused the “Kate effect, “which she sold off for the first time.
It is not surprising that royal fans want to echo her brilliant bohemian cherry-red look.
Fortunately, many similar styles are available (and the price is lower than the cost of the designer dress for about $3000/UGX 11,012,850).
