Appropriately, many large medical associations have condemned Conversion therapies as harmful .

Despite the detrimental and questionable effectiveness of the procedure, Conversion therapies are legal  in some parts of the United States and the United Kingdom. A British group called the Core Issues Foundation has used Instagram to promote its goal of “transforming” young people.

Facebook has received a flood of appeals from the Instagram community, asking Core Issues Trust to step down from the platform. Now they have done it.
