American Businesswoman To Guide Ugandan Women On Financial Literacy

By establishing a skills development centre, Lisa Stark Hughes, an investor in the women’s health sector, plans to increase financial literacy and develop entrepreneurial abilities among Ugandan women.

After her initial visit in 2020, Lisa came back to the country to look into additional investment opportunities. She revealed this during a meeting with Lukia Isanga Nakadama, the third deputy prime minister.

Lisa stated during the meeting at the office of the Prime Minister in Kampala that President Museveni’s compassionate actions and his desire to bring about long-lasting change and opportunities for Ugandan citizens served as the foundation for her decision to return to Uganda and establish several investments.

Lisa said that President Museveni is considering the broad picture and seeking to bring about lasting changes in Uganda, which is different from many other politicians. Every Ugandan citizen who wants to improve their life can benefit from President Museveni’s emphasis on education and opportunity.

She felt heartwarming to witness a president who is grieved by the struggles and difficulties that his people face when they leave Uganda in search of work. She said that she can understand why Museveni believes that creating opportunities right here in Uganda is the best course of action.

She also added that President Museveni is making a lot of effort to find ways to protect the people of Uganda and to give them a better life.

Lisa was also quite moved by the fact that so many prominent government posts are held by women, which indicates that Ugandans highly regard women and do not view them as inferior to males but rather as equals.

She stated that her objective is to enhance family life as a whole and to create a better and more promising future for the coming generation of Ugandans.

According to her, as the country develops, it is crucial to preserve Uganda’s beautiful culture and tradition as well as it is important to develop initiatives that support Uganda’s great and distinctive culture.

She stated that she thought working for oneself was a respectable and empowering career that offered countless prospects for advancement. For women, it also gives them more freedom so they can be there for their kids and leave a loving legacy for future generations.

The programme, according to the deputy prime minister, will help women and their families while also strengthening the national economy.

She emphasised that women are at the centre of every family in Uganda and that women must be skilled and able to assist their families.

According to Nakadama, women in Uganda frequently have degrees from colleges or other certifications, yet they find it difficult to get jobs and wind up working for others in their fields.

They frequently end up accepting jobs in professions that are not what they would want or would fulfil their dreams. She said that in addition to vocational training, this programme will teach financial literacy and smart money management.

By the end of Lisa’s programme, women in Uganda will have the start-up money required to launch their businesses in addition to receiving skill development, business entrepreneurship training, and financial literacy training.

In addition, more children will be able to attend school because of the programme, which will also help every one of Uganda by collecting taxes directly for the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

In 2020, when Lisa visited Uganda, she commended President Yoweri Museveni for creating a strong health sector that encourages the formation of significant investments in the nation.

The American Businesswoman, whose primary areas of expertise include fertility and reproductive health, made the comments while on a medical tour of the nation, stopping at many hospitals and clinics, including the Mulago National Specialized Hospital and fertility clinics.

Lisa remarked that considering Musevenni’s dedication to bettering people’s lives, which accounts for why the Ugandan people like him so much. She added that the progress made in Uganda during his presidency has been astonishing.
